OLFACTIVE PHILOSOPHY

From the 1950s to the 1970s, fragrances primarily used natural ingredients. Although synthetic fragrances later became mainstream, there has been a recent resurgence of natural ingredients in perfumery.

At KITOWA, we use rare and precious natural ingredients, such as “Iris,” derived from the iris pallida root, and “Frankincense,” which has a long history dating back to ancient times. The origin of the word “perfume” (“Per Fumum” means “through smoke” in Latin) is said to come from the way the white smoke of Frankincense rises to the sky with a refreshing aroma when it is burned.

KITOWA's olfactive philosophy is to blend the natural fragrances of Japanese woods with the highest quality natural ingredients, creating luxurious and delightful scents. With their exceptional skills and sensitivity, Japan's top perfumers have crafted an innovative world of fragrances by combining the dignified and beautiful scents of Japanese trees with contrasting rich fragrances. Enjoy the unparalleled quality and refined elegance you won't find anywhere else.

"When I create a fragrance, I always strive to craft something original and to enhance the natural scent of the ingredients. KITOWA's fragrances are a unique blend of Japanese wood essential oils and various natural ingredients, resulting in luxurious and elegant scents. I hope people around the world can experience the sophisticated fragrances of 'Hinoki,' 'Hiba,' and 'Kusunoki' woods."
